First, the basics.  My name is Ryan.  I love beer. I love to travel. I love to write.

In Search of Beer grew as a natural union of all these loves.  For the last few years, I’ve had an insatiable desire to constantly try new beers whenever possible, seldom repeating something I’ve tried unless I absolutely love it (I’m looking at you, Schlenkerla).  The website began as a hobby which has grown more serious as time has passed.  I now also write for the many incarnations of The Town Dish, a network of food and drink websites concentrating on Philadelphia and its suburbs.  I’ve also contributed to blogs like Every Little Thing and Bridges, Burgers and Beer, and wrote a Philadelphia Destinations piece for BeerAdvocate Magazine, issue 56.  I am also currently a columnist for Philly Beer Scene magazine.

While my search of beer has remained mostly grounded in the Philadelphia area, I have also explored the beer scene in parts of Canada, Australia, and New Zealand as well as Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

I am always open to new things and have a massive appetite for all things food- and beer-related.  Hopefully, you have an equally large appetite for reading about it.  Or, if you wish, for joining me as I try it out; whatever I’m doing can usually be found on Twitter.

I would be remiss to omit that none of this would be possible without my lovely wife LeeAnne, who supports all my endeavors, edits everything I write, and takes most of my pictures.  There really is none better.

Now grab your reading glasses (should you need them) and grab your beer glasses (you’ll definitely need them) and enjoy your time traveling, drinking, and eating with us.

If you would like to get in touch, the best way is via e-mail at insearchofbeer [at] gmail [dot] com, or on Twitter at @insearchofbeer.  I am always open to questions or comments you don’t want to leave on the website.  Please also feel free to share any press releases relating to Philadelphia beer or food; I’m always looking for new content ideas and trying to stay abreast of the goings-on in the area.
